The camping areas are clearly numbered and available on a first-come basis. The open aspect is pretty and sun-filled with easy accessibility to the St Georges River walking track, located on the lower limit.
To walk from Lorne to the camping site, it would take around 41 mins, according to Google Maps. However, be prepared for a bit of an uphill slog!
Basic toilets are available on-site, and while pets are not allowed in the camping area, the walking track to St Georges River and the beach is dog-friendly.
Looking to explore the area? There’s plenty of waterfalls nearby, and Live Wire Park is just a few kilometres away and well worth a visit.

To get to the camping area, you can take the Great Ocean Road or follow the Beech Forest route. If you’re driving a 2WD, we recommend taking the Beech Forest-Mt Sabine Road, turning right onto Binns Road (gravel), and following the signs. Along the way, you’ll find plenty of opportunities for taking great photos among the large trees.
